Buyer/Expeditor
Job Title: Buyer/Expeditor Department: Purchasing Reports To: Purchasing Manager FLSA: Non-exempt
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Compiles
information and coordinates activities involved in procuring goods and
services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies,
advertising, and computer hardware and software; Confers with vendors by
telephone, fax, email or in person to obtain information such as price,
availability and delivery schedule; Prepares purchase orders, reviews
proposals, and negotiates contracts with budgetary limitations and scope
of authority; Selects products for purchase by testing, observing or
examining them; Estimates values according to knowlege of market
price; Coordinates purchase needs with all personnel within the
Company; Maintains manual or computerized procurement records including
the cost, delivery information, product quality and performance, and
inventory levels; Discusses defective or unacceptable goods and services
with Engineering and Quality Control personnel, end-users, vendors and
others to determine the source of the defect and to take corrective
action; Approves invoices for payment and forwards to Accounts Payable;
Expedites delivery of goods to end-users when necessary; Reviews
production schedule to establish prioriities and availability of parts
and materials needed to meet product needs; and Other duties as
assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High
school diploma or general education degree (GED), one to three months
related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability
to read, analyze, and interpret common technical documents such as
purchasing orders, invoices, and inventory documents. Ability to
respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of
the business community. Ability to write general business
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to top
management, general personnel and vendors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability
to calculate figures and amounts such discounts, interest, percentages,
area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic
algebra and geometry.
